On August 23, 2019, the first Traffic Data Modeling Contest for college students was successfully concluded in Shanghai. Selected by the Expert Committee of the competition, the competition finally awarded 1 first prize, 2 second prizes, 5 third prizes and 12 finalists. Bei Chen, Lijuan Wan, Jian Yuan, and Mian Wu, graduate students of the research group, won the first prize for their entries "Research on diagnostic methods for evaluating the level of traffic signal Control".
With the rapid development of intelligent transportation, information technology and Internet technology, the ability to obtain traffic data is getting stronger and stronger, the volume is getting larger and larger, the form is becoming more and more abundant, and the level is becoming more and more complex. It provides new data sources and new solutions to solve urban traffic congestion and other problems.
Since the start of registration in March, thousands of college students have come from Tongji University, Southeast University, Beijing Jiaotong University, Jilin University, Central South University, Southwest Jiaotong University, Sun Yat-sen University, Chang'an University and so on. More than 100 works have been created around traffic topics such as traffic congestion evaluation and accident analysis, traffic characteristics and prediction, bus assembly mechanism, network-based customized bus scheduling, shared bicycles, rail transit passenger flow forecasting, and so on. After the preliminary examination of the experts of the judges of the competition, 20 groups of excellent works were shortlisted for the finals.
