Alimo Philip Kofi, one of the group members of MAGIC Lab, won the first prize of the Tongji University President Scholarship for the 2021 academic year. The Tongji University President Scholarship is an annual award presented to outstanding students in Tongji University after a competitive evaluation of applications and achievements in each academic year. It is based on excellent academic performance, research, and social volunteer service. This year, only two international students got the first prize.
Kofi comes from Ghana and joined the MAGIC Lab in September 2020. Under the supervision of Professor Wanjing Ma, he published 1 SCI-indexed paper in the Journal of Transport Geography and has manuscripts under review in top transportation journals such as Transportation Research Part A and D. He presented an EI-indexed paper at the 6th International Conference on Transportation Information and Safety. In addition, Kofi participated in the First International Academic Forum of Green and Intelligent Mobility for Future Transport, organized by Chang'an University in Xi'an, and "Third International Academic Forum for Young Talents", organized by the University of Shanghai for Science & Technology where he did academic presentations.
In terms of social volunteer service, he took part in some Chinese language competitions on behalf of the international students of the College of Transportation Engineering, Tongji University. He has prepared several materials for the new African Language Resources Research Center of Tongji University. Regarding China-Africa collaboration, he has presented an article for the Call for Papers: "Xi Jinping and China in the Eyes of African Students" which is currently under review.
