From January 7th to 11th, 2024, the 103rd Annual Meeting of the Transportation Research Board (TRB) was held at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington, D.C., USA. Led by Professor Wanjing Ma, a delegation of 12 members from the esteemed MAGIC Lab research group, including doctoral candidates Zhenning Niu, Zilin Shen, Yuxuan Sun, Yuhang Guo, Zuoning Jia, Yuehai Hu, Cheng Jin, and master's students Xinpeng Li, Shu Chen, Yuhe Bai, and Haowen Su, actively participated in this scholarly gathering.

The 2024 Transportation Research Board (TRB) Annual Meeting is the largest global gathering of transportation professionals and researchers with a focus on innovative solutions for all modes of transportation. With over 6,000 paper submissions for this conference, approximately half of them were accepted. A total of 11 members from the MAGIC Lab research group were invited to attend and present their research through poster sessions at the event venue.

The poster presented by Ph.D. candidate Zhenning Niu is titled "Vehicle-to-Grid enabled charging infrastructure planning and operations considering demand uncertainties." His poster describes two V2G operation mode, station capacity and charging and discharging strategy.

The poster presented by Ph.D. candidate Zilin Shen is titled "Increasing the Capacity of Signalized Intersections with Unconventional Designs of Shared Right-turn Lanes." His poster describes two unconventional control strategies for shared right-turn lanes and the optimization framework to increase the capacity at an isolated intersection.

The poster presented by Ph.D. candidate Yuxuan Sun is titled "Cycle-level and Movement-level Detection of Nonrecurrent Congestion in an Urban Road Network under Spatially Sparse Trajectory Data Environment." Her poster describes cycle-level and movement-level detection of nonrecurrent congestion in urban road networks under spatially sparse trajectory data environment.

The poster presented by Ph.D. candidate Yuhang Guo is titled "Customized Bus Routing Considering Competition with Taxi Services at Transport Hubs." His poster describes the optimization of ride-sharing (CB) routes and frequencies by taking into account passenger choices at hubs and the mutual influence between CB and taxi systems.

The poster presented by Ph.D. candidate Zuoning Jia is titled "Charging Scheduling Coordination of Buses and Passenger Cars at Bus Depots." His poster describes how to utilize idling charging facilities at bus depots for private cars, providing operational strategies and conducting a benefit analysis.

The poster presented by Ph.D. candidate Yuehai Hu is titled "Capacity Analysis at a Signalized Intersection Under Mixed Traffic Environment." His poster describes how to investigate the probability distribution of traffic capacity at single-lane signalized intersections for mixed traffic flow involving Connected and Automated Vehicles (CAV), Autonomous Vehicles (AV), and Human-Driven Vehicles (HDV).

The poster presented by Ph.D. candidate Cheng Jin is titled "Markov Process based Particle Filter for Vehicle Trajectory Reconstruction at Signalized Intersections." Her poster describes a vehicle trajectory reconstruction method based on particle filtering, which integrates scene-specific modeling of traffic signal states.

The poster presented by Master's student Xinpeng Li is titled "Arterial Signal Timing Based on Probe Vehicle Trajectories under Cyclic Stochastic Demand." His poster describes research on arterial coordination control based on trajectory data, proposing optimization methods for fixed-time signal timing plans specifically tailored for low-penetration-rate trajectory data.

The poster presented by Master's student Shu Chen is titled "Evaluation of the Severity of Deadlock at a Signalized Intersection with Auxiliary Lanes Using Trajectory Data." His poster describes the evaluation of deadlock impact in channelized sections for signalized intersections with auxiliary lanes, achieved through the alignment of lane organization and signal scheme.

The poster presented by Master's student Yuhe Bai is titled "Rear-End Conflicts Prediction based on Vehicle and Roadside Data." Her poster describes the establishment of a fine-grained and high-precision prediction model, utilizing vehicle and roadside data, to predict rear-end conflicts on expressway sections.

The poster presented by Master's student Haowen Su is titled "Cycle Length Optimization of Isolated Signalized Intersection with Mixed Traffic Condition." His poster describes the optimization of the optimal cycle length for isolated intersections by considering the impact of pedestrians and bicyclists on the saturation rate of motor vehicles.
