On October 26, 2023, the closing ceremony of the 2nd National Postdoctoral Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition was held in Yantai, Shandong Province, China. The theme of this competition was "Intelligent Integration Empowers Development; Postdoctoral Innovation Leads the Future." It consisted of four categories, including innovation competition, entrepreneurship competition, overseas leading topic competition, and other industries, with seven tracks, including the new generation of information technology, high-end equipment manufacturing, new energy and new materials, biomedicine and health, modern agriculture and food, among others. A total of 1457 participating teams attended the final competition. Among them, Dr. Sun Tuo from the Magic Research Group won the silver medal in the entrepreneurship competition track of the new generation of information technology group with the project "Multi-Mode Autonomous Driving Hybrid Flow Cluster Intelligent Control System."
Cooperative perception, decision-making, and control between vehicles and roads are fundamental and common key technologies in the new generation of the information industry. In response to the cooperative perception, decision-making, and control needs of a large number of intelligent connected vehicles in traffic flow, as well as the bottleneck problems and "bottleneck" issues of high-level autonomous driving, the project team proposed and developed original multi-mode autonomous driving cluster intelligent control technology and methods. They developed vehicle-road integrated perception and decision-making control technology based on multi-source sensing data, and developed vehicle-road cooperative cloud control platforms, roadside edge computing devices, and the "Same Lane OS" operating system, solving safety hazards such as perception blind spots, proactive optimization of signal timing, intelligent driving speed guidance, vehicle convoy driving, and merging into ramps for intelligent connected vehicles. Around the core technology, they have published more than 20 high-level papers, applied for 9 invention patents (4 of which have been authorized), and registered 13 software copyrights.
Dr. Sun Tuo was previously selected for the 2021 Shanghai Rising Star Program, the 2022 Shanghai Super Postdoctoral Support Program, and the title of the founder of a key incubating entrepreneurial enterprise in Shanghai. He has also received the first prize of Shanghai Science and Technology Progress Award, the first prize of the China Highway Society Science and Technology Award, and the first prize of the China Communications and Transportation Association Science and Technology Progress Award.
